ISO 9000s and ISO 14001 are officially published in English by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) but in Japan these standards are translated verbatim into Japanese and published as JIS standards. It is a common practice in Japan, if you seek assessment and registration against ISO 9000s or 14001, to receive assessment using these JIS standards. ISO standards in English and JIS standards in Japanese are available at the Japanese Standards Association. Besides, there are many books explaining in general the standards and assessment and certification/ registration activities and you can buy them in book stores. As to procedures, fees, etc. to receive assessment/ registration, each registration body has their guidance literatures published on them and please read them. Furthermore, JAB has published various criteria used for accreditation of registration bodies, auditor training bodies, auditor evaluation/ registration bodies, personnel certification bodies, laboratories, product certification bodies, etc., which are available at the Japanese Standards Association (TEL. +81-3-3583-8002, FAX . +81-3-3586-2029) .
