The criteria and conformity assessment procedures set up to regulate the suitability and safety of products or services sometimes differ from one country to another. Mutual Recognition Agreements are exchanged at the regulatory level between countries with different criteria or procedures. The signatory governments agree that the importing country will recognize the conformity assessment (testing, inspection, certification) undertaken in the exporting country as equivalent to its own, provided the conformity assessment has been carried out by a third-party body (Conformity Assessment Body - CAB) designated by the Government of the exporting country, in accordance with the criteria and conformity assessment procedures of the exporting country. |
